Tea Tourism: Beyond Just A Cup Of Tea

It is no new fact that the Tourism industry is facing an unfavourable time during this pandemic, nevertheless, we are determined to do all it takes to be inspired and use this quiet time to develop the industry we are passionate about and introduce unique offerings to our mutual guests.

Sri Lanka is acclaimed globally as the brand owner of “Ceylon Tea” and the fourth largest tea exporter to the world, however, the question arises as to whether the destination has utilized this product to its highest potential. There is common belief in our sector that tea could be coupled with our unique heritage in order to offer a captivating set of experiences for our Tea loving guests.

This presentation was done by Dinuka Kathri Arachchi Elayaperuma, a Senior Travel Designer of Diethelm Travel Sri Lanka. She is currently reading for her Masters at Tourism Study Programs at the University of Colombo and carries out research on avenues such as this, which she deeply believes has great potential to be offered to our international guests, in a redefined manner.
